Teachers are now reaping the fruit of their labour after they are being rewarded with cash prices.
This reward is to recognize and appreciate teachers who have put in efforts in the development of Nigeria’s education sector.
This came on the strength of a partnership between Accugas Limited, a subsidiary of the British independent energy company, Savannah Energy, and Inoyo Toro Foundation, a not-for-profit charity. Both organisations partnered to recognise and reward outstanding teachers in public secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State.
However, Aniefiok Ekanem Antia was one of the five lucky teachers who emerged winners in the “Grand Mentor Award.
She is a biology teacher at Itam Secondary School in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State,
She was overwhelmed after receiving a Cheque of N500,000 for the award which is the highest award category sponsored by the British independent energy company, Savannah Energy, in the recently-concluded Inoyo Toro Foundation’s Annual Awards for Teaching Excellence in Akwa Ibom State Public Secondary Schools.
The Inoyo Toro Foundation is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to the eradication of poverty through education. The foundation’s annual awards for teaching excellence in Akwa Ibom State public secondary schools is focused on the achievements of teachers and rewarding them. The award is aimed at “restoring the integrity and pride of teachers, thereby motivating them to be more diligent in their work and producing better students.”
The foundation has been partnering with Accugas Limited, a subsidiary of Savannah Energy, for six years, with the latter remaining the sponsor of the highest awards category, “the Grand Mentor Award.”
