The Lions Clubs International District 404B2, Nigeria has reiterated love for the visually impaired at a dinner with the visually impaired tagged: “Together crossing new boundaries”.
District chairperson of the Visually impaired and Dinner in the Dark, Lions Phina Origho, explained the dinner was to give members of the visually challenged community a sense of belonging of “what it is to lack one of our senses, sight”
Lions Phina recalled the vision of the club to serve the community without rewards and emphasised the need for service to humanity because life depends on helping the needy.
“Lions club international is known for its humanitarian activities no matter the situation. They encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, they also encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in everything they do. Funds are usually set aside for core projects like helping the visually impaired. Lions club international supports Lionism through the efforts of Lions International and its charitable programs throughout the world. They are always responsive to the needs of their community.
“I believe in service to humanity because my Faith made me understand “whatever you sow is what you reap” l believe in aiding my fellow men by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy. And I also believe in giving my Three T’s, that is Time, Treasure, and Talent,” she said.
Guest Speaker Lion John Oriazowan, Cabinet Treasurer, District 404B2 Nigeria. Lion John, who spoke on “love” said: “We are here to show love to the Bethsaida Home for the Blind. Love is an intense feeling of deep affection. There are 4 types of love. But we will be talking about one which is agape love. Agape love is the love of mankind. It is the highest form of love, charity, and “the love of God for man and of man for God”.
“Love is part of us as Lions, irrespective of the circumstances we still give, show care, and show love to people, that’s why we are here to show love to the Bethesda home for the blinds despite the challenges facing our world today. I urge us all to live in love and let agape love fill our hearts.”
