The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has entered into a strategic partnership with Informa Markets aimed at strengthening the long-term sustainability, scale and impact of the International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA) and other flagship public health convenings across the continent.
The partnership was formalised through a memorandum of understanding signed by Africa CDC Director-General, Dr Jean Kaseya, and Informa Markets’ President for the Middle East, India, Türkiye and Africa, Peter Hall. It brings together Africa CDC’s scientific leadership with Informa Markets’ global expertise in delivering large-scale healthcare events, at a time when Africa faces increasing demand for coordinated, resilient and locally driven public health responses.
Under the agreement, Informa Markets will support the planning, delivery and global positioning of CPHIA by enhancing its operational capacity, visibility and international reach. Africa CDC will retain full scientific, strategic and convening authority, ensuring that the conference remains anchored in African health priorities and public health sovereignty.
Dr Kaseya said the collaboration reinforces Africa CDC’s commitment to building durable public health platforms that support knowledge exchange, policy alignment and collective action. He described CPHIA as a critical forum for African experts, policymakers and partners to shape sustainable health security strategies and strengthen the continent’s preparedness for current and emerging health threats.
Africa CDC noted that the partnership aligns with its 2023–2027 Strategic Plan and the Africa Health Security and Sovereignty agenda, both of which emphasise resilient health systems, regional cooperation and long-term capacity development. By institutionalising the conference’s delivery framework, the agency aims to ensure continuity, reduce operational risks and maximise impact beyond annual events.
Informa Markets said it would leverage its international healthcare network and decades of experience organising global exhibitions, including the World Health Expo, to support CPHIA’s growth and sustainability. Hall said the partnership reflects a shared vision to elevate Africa-led public health dialogue and connect the continent more effectively to global health ecosystems.
Since its launch in 2021, Africa CDC has hosted four editions of CPHIA, convening heads of state, health ministers, researchers, frontline health workers, private-sector leaders and development partners. The conference has emerged as a key platform for advancing evidence-based policy, fostering collaboration and strengthening Africa’s public health architecture.
The fifth edition, CPHIA 2026, is scheduled to hold in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is expected to attract thousands of participants from across Africa and beyond, further reinforcing the conference’s role as a cornerstone of sustainable health leadership on the continent.
