In a significant humanitarian effort, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has donated 35,000 bags of rice to vulnerable and underprivileged residents of Katsina State, reinforcing its commitment to fighting hunger and poverty in Nigeria.
The donation is part of ADF’s nationwide initiative, which aims to distribute one million bags of rice worth ₦16 billion across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas (LGAs).
Ramadan Food Relief for Katsina Residents
The Katsina rice distribution initiative was officially launched on March 26, 2025, at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium by ADF representative Mustapha Umar. The event ensures that all 361 wards across 34 LGAs in the state receive food aid during the Ramadan fasting period.
“This initiative targets over one million vulnerable Nigerians, helping to ease hardship amid the current economic situation. The Foundation has extended similar support nationwide to assist people in observing Ramadan with ease,” – Mustapha Umar, ADF Representative
Each political ward in Katsina is set to receive food support for 94 beneficiaries, ensuring that the aid reaches those most in need.

Representing the Katsina State Government, Hisbah Board Commander Dr. Aminu Usman commended ADF’s philanthropic intervention, stating that it aligns with the state’s free Ramadan feeding program and broader poverty-alleviation initiatives.
“This support will go a long way in easing the burden of the poor. I encourage other wealthy individuals to embrace similar acts of philanthropy, especially during the holy month of Ramadan,” – Dr. Aminu Usman
Many of the beneficiaries, including persons with disabilities, expressed deep gratitude to ADF for its continued humanitarian assistance. Some individuals, physically challenged and unable to walk, had to be wheeled to the venue to collect their share of 10kg rice bags, underscoring the critical need for such interventions.
