The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has extended its Food Intervention Programme to Kwara State, donating 25,000 bags of 10kg rice to support vulnerable families across all 16 local government areas. This initiative is part of ADF’s commitment to combating food insecurity and promoting economic stability in Nigeria.
Aliko Dangote Foundation’s Commitment to Food Security
The ADF delegation, led by Ahmed Gobir, Group General Manager of Human Resources at Dangote Cement PLC, presented the rice donation to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who was represented by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, at the Ministry of Agriculture in Ilorin on March 25, 2025.
Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi praised the Aliko Dangote Foundation for its dedication to humanitarian causes, especially during Ramadan and Lent, when many Nigerians observe fasting.
“The rice distribution could not have come at a better time, as it will provide much-needed relief to indigent families during this sacred period,” — Kayode Alabi, Deputy Governor of Kwara State.
Alabi also called on corporations and well-meaning individuals to emulate ADF’s philanthropic model in tackling hunger and poverty.

ADF’s Nationwide Rice Distribution Initiative
Representing Aliko Dangote, Malam Ahmed Gobir highlighted the foundation’s broader commitment to economic empowerment and poverty alleviation through strategic partnerships with state governments. He disclosed that Kwara State’s allocation was part of a nationwide donation of one million bags of rice, valued at ₦16 billion, across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
“This initiative is not just an act of charity but a demonstration of ADF’s long-term commitment to improving lives through nutrition, health, education, and empowerment,” — Ahmed Gobir, ADF Representative.
The Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture, AbdulAfeez Abolore, described the donation as historic, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing food insecurity.
“With both Christians and Muslims fasting during Lent and Ramadan, this donation will go a long way in addressing food shortages and supporting those in need,” — AbdulAfeez Abolore, Commissioner for Agriculture.
