The Gombe State Government has commenced the distribution of 25,000 bags of rice, donated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation. This is to assist vulnerable households and mitigate economic hardship across the state.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya flagged off the initiative. His Chief of Staff, Abubakar Inuwa Kari, represented him at the program. It aligns with the administration’s ongoing poverty alleviation and food security programs. The donation aims to provide relief during the Ramadan season, ensuring that struggling families have access to essential food supplies.
Governor Yahaya assured residents that the state would implement it’s existing distribution framework, in order to prevent diversion and misallocation. A new set of beneficiaries has been selected to expand the reach of the relief effort.
“When the commodities were handed over to the state government, we already had an established distribution structure with standing committees that have successfully handled previous exercises,” he stated.
The Governor tasked the Gombe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) with ensuring that all food palliatives reach the intended recipients without interference.
