The Certified Institute of Auctioneers Nigeria (CIAN), Abuja Chapter, has launched a two-year plan to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and professional community of auctioneers in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking at the unveiling, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Ajayi Franklin, described the initiative as “a new beginning in the history of the institute,” adding that the chapter was set for innovation, growth, and strengthened professionalism.
Franklin outlined his 2025–2027 vision anchored on four strategic pillars: professional development, membership engagement, advocacy and partnerships, and governance and transparency. He said his administration would prioritise regular training and capacity-building programmes, monthly auctions for hands-on practice, a fully functional auction house, and a “one-stop-shop” secretariat to support auctioneers.
“Our goal is to provide members with the skills and knowledge to excel in their profession,” Franklin said.
On membership, he pledged to recruit at least 20 active professionals, introduce mentorship programmes, and organise annual conferences and social gatherings to build community. He also emphasised advocacy, promising stronger partnerships with government agencies, regulators, and industry bodies to promote auctioneering in Nigeria.
Franklin further assured members of transparency, accountability, and prudent resource management, urging collective effort to elevate the profession. “Together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant community of auctioneers in Abuja,” he said.
