At the end of August 2024, Octa completed a transformative corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at uplifting underserved communities in Kanke and Kwaikong, Jos, through meaningful contributions to education and access to basic needs.
This project marks Octa’s deep commitment to making a lasting difference, especially in regions where such interventions can have a ripple effect across generations. The initiatives were facilitated by Akinyemi Oluwaseun, popularly known as AsherKine, a well-known figure for their involvement in benevolent projects on social media.
Kanke is a community that had long been struggling with a severe water shortage, relying on just three wells for its water needs. To address this, Octa drilled a much-needed borehole, providing the community with reliable access to clean and safe water. For a town with such limited resources, this project represents more than just infrastructure improvement; it’s a lifeline improving health, hygiene, and the overall quality of life for the entire population. In addition to the borehole, Octa and other companies involved in the program distributed essential food items to local families.
Education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives, and Octa’s efforts in Kwaikong were centered on providing students with the opportunities and resources they need to succeed. Scholarships were awarded to the top-performing students in LEA Primary School, Kwaikong, ensuring their secondary education continues without financial hurdles. Beyond scholarships, Octa also provided essential school supplies and helped renovate classrooms to create a more conducive learning environment.
Octa’s recent projects in Jos are part of its broader CSR strategy, which focuses on uplifting underserved communities through sustainable and impactful interventions. From clean water and food security to education, infrastructure, and even support for those in distress, Octa’s multifaceted approach underscores the company’s dedication to addressing critical community needs.
CSR is more than a corporate obligation for Octa; it is a cornerstone of the company’s values. As the global broker continues to grow, so will its commitment to empowering local communities, ensuring that Octa’s success is shared with the people who stand to benefit the most.
