Dangote Coal Mines Limited has signed a landmark Community Development Agreement (CDA) with its host communities in Benue State, marking a new era of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development in the region.
Government officials hailed the agreement as a significant milestone, emphasizing its role in fostering social and economic growth. According to representatives from Dangote Coal and the host communities, the pact will guide the company’s CSR initiatives, complementing government efforts in infrastructure and social welfare.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Nuhu Elujah described the agreement as a breakthrough in community engagement, stating:
“Today, we have a document that ensures our commitment to positively impacting the Abache Community through well-structured projects.”

He further outlined the company’s plans to implement critical interventions in education, road construction, healthcare, and water infrastructure across the communities.
The representative of the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Ms. Bimbo Adams, described the CDA as a foundation for peace and development, underscoring its importance in fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between the company and its host communities.
In her remarks, Mrs. Adijetu Usman, representing the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development at the state level, reaffirmed the government’s support for corporate initiatives that promote sustainability and social impact.
Traditional leaders also lauded Dangote Coal Mines Limited for its proactive CSR efforts, with Chief Emmanuel Ikom, Ward Head of Ugbokolo, acknowledging the company’s successful implementation of development projects in all three host communities within Okpokwu Local Government Area.
On behalf of the Abache community, Mr. Sunday Onoko Aluh commended Dangote Coal for its dedication to community well-being, pledging peaceful coexistence to ensure sustained progress and development.
Traditional rulers present at the event described the CDA as a win-win agreement, fostering long-term economic growth, social development, and corporate-community harmony.
