The Bauchi State Government, in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has launched the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) Bauchi Initiative—a programme designed to equip young people, civil servants, and entrepreneurs with the technology skills needed to thrive in today’s digital economy.
Speaking at the launch, the state governor described digital literacy as a fundamental right, noting that technology is now central to global competitiveness, job creation, and poverty reduction. “With the right skills, people can generate income and create value from anywhere—even their homes,” he said.
The initiative aligns with NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and the National Digital Literacy Framework, and will operate on three key pillars:
Informal Sector Program: Supporting artisans, traders, and informal workers with digital tools to grow their businesses. Already, more than 7,100 Digital Literacy Champions have reached over 267,000 Nigerians nationwide.
Workforce Readiness Program: Building employability for job seekers, graduates, and public servants through practical digital economy skills.
Educational Sector Program: Introducing a Basic Education Digital Skills Curriculum in schools from September 2025 to prepare the next generation for a technology-driven future.
NITDA commended Bauchi for its leadership in embracing digital transformation, describing the initiative as a bold step toward positioning the state as a hub for digital innovation in Northern Nigeria. Officials noted that the state’s youthful population and strategic location make it well-placed to drive inclusive growth and economic diversification.
The programme reflects a shared CSR commitment by government and partners to close Nigeria’s digital divide, expand opportunities, and empower communities for sustainable development.
