The Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of Pan Atlantic University, in partnership with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural economy through improved access to funding, training, and business development support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
This renewed collaboration was spotlighted at the ‘Funding the Future: Powering Nigeria’s Agric SMEs’ event held in Lagos a two day engagement that brought together key players in the agricultural value chain, including financial institutions, development agencies, and entrepreneurs.
The initiative seeks to bridge the persistent funding gap for agribusinesses by connecting entrepreneurs to sustainable finance solutions and equipping them with the capacity to access and manage such opportunities effectively.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Nnenna Ugwu, Head of Alumni Relations and Support Services at EDC, reiterated the Centre’s mission to nurture resilient, fun ready agribusinesses through continuous training and capacity building.
At EDC, we don’t just provide access to money; we prepare entrepreneurs for it, Dr. Ugwu stated. Through this collaboration with AGRA, we’re building systems that promote funding that works sustainable funding for the future. “To transform Nigeria’s agricultural landscape, we must empower private sector actors particularly SMEs with the right financial and operational tools,” he said. “Our collaboration with EDC is designed to strengthen the ecosystem that supports them.”
Participants at the event described the initiative as a timely effort to foster collaboration, drive innovation, and unlock growth potential across the agricultural value chain.
With EDC providing hands on training and AGRA enhancing the enabling environment for business development, the partnership is poised to unlock new pathways for funding, productivity, and long-term sustainability for Nigeria’s agribusiness sector.
