The Federal Government has emphasized the urgent need for Nigeria to phase out its dependence on outdated, imported machinery and adopt modern, resilient manufacturing technologies to strengthen the nation’s industrial base and global competitiveness.
Speaking at the 2025 Nigeria Manufacturing and Equipment/Nigerian Raw Materials Expo held in Lagos, the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Enoh, stressed that the country can no longer afford to rely on second-hand and obsolete equipment.
“We must transition from importing what are essentially industrial scraps to deploying world-class manufacturing solutions designed for resilience and sustainability,” Enoh said.
He noted that true industrial sovereignty will only be achieved when Nigeria fully embraces cutting-edge technologies, locally sourced raw materials, and modernized production processes that meet global standards.
The Minister also reiterated the administration’s commitment to industrial reform, adding that boosting the sector’s efficiency and competitiveness is critical to job creation, economic diversification, and sustainable growth.
