Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc (FMN) has reiterated its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s food security and advancing local content development through sustained investments in agriculture and agro-allied industries.
In a statement, the Group said its long-standing agenda of “Feeding the Nation Every Day” remains central to its 65-year strategy of reducing reliance on imported raw materials and building resilience within Nigeria’s food systems.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Boye Olusanya, described FMN as “more than just a company, but a strong ally in Nigeria’s growth and development,” noting that the Group has consistently created livelihoods for millions of families across the country.
“For over six decades, FMN has provided both direct and indirect employment to Nigerians. More than any other business, we have safeguarded our national heritage with trust, ensuring that our operations are sustainable for the country, the environment, and most importantly, the people,” Olusanya said.
FMN traced its agricultural journey back to 1978, when it acquired a 10,000-hectare farm in Kaboji, Niger State, as part of its expansion strategy to strengthen the sugar supply chain and reduce imports. Since then, the company has expanded into the cultivation of soybeans, cassava, maize, wheat, sugarcane, palm fruits, and sorghum, alongside grain aggregation and distribution.
Through its outgrower programme and agronomy support systems, FMN has empowered more than 400,000 farmers nationwide, providing them with training, inputs, and access to guaranteed markets. These farmers, in turn, supply raw materials for FMN’s flagship brands, including Golden Penny Foods.
The company added that its subsidiary, Golden Agri Inputs Limited, has supported over 50,000 farmers with hybrid seeds, improved agronomy practices, storage solutions, and market access, thereby enhancing productivity and profitability across multiple value chains.
Olusanya reaffirmed FMN’s dedication to local content development and food self-sufficiency, stressing that the Group will continue to deepen its agricultural footprint as part of Nigeria’s broader food security agenda.
