
In a bid to combat food insecurity in Lagos, Glo Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Globacom, has partnered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative to distribute essential food supplies to thousands of residents in Ilaje, Bariga, Lagos.
The large-scale food distribution drive, held at Love Lagos Jetty, provided vulnerable families with nutritious food packs containing:
- Rice, garri, and spaghetti
- Noodles, tomato paste, and sardines
- Vegetable oil and seasoning cubes
- Hygiene essentials like toothbrushes
Glo Foundation’s Commitment to Alleviating Hunger
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Adejumobi Mofe-Damijo, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Globacom, reaffirmed the foundation’s dedication to uplifting underprivileged communities.
“Glo Foundation is committed to bringing joy to families, especially in these trying times. This food drive is just one of the many interventions we have planned to make a lasting impact,” she stated.
The event was met with overwhelming gratitude as community members sang, danced, and celebrated the much-needed relief.

Community Impact: Voices of Gratitude
Many beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the initiative:
- Abiola Oladunjoye, an unemployed resident, called the food pack a “divine provision” for her family.
- Amarachi Peter, a local cook, praised the effort, highlighting how it helps combat the rising cost of food.
- Eunice Kehinde, a hairdresser, was moved by the gesture, stating that the food pack would sustain her family for weeks.
Lagos Food Bank Initiative Lauds Corporate Support
Michael Sunbola, Executive Director of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, commended Glo Foundation for its intervention and encouraged more corporate organizations to join the fight against hunger.
“This is just the pilot phase, and we look forward to extending the initiative to more communities in need,” Sunbola stated.
As part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, Glo Foundation is set to expand the food relief initiative to another Lagos community next Saturday, ensuring that more underprivileged Nigerians receive support.
