The Kwara State Government has procured 30 electricity transformers to strengthen power supply, stimulate economic growth, and improve living standards across the state.
The Commissioner for Energy, Kola AbdulGaniy, announced the development on Friday while receiving the second batch of 14 transformers at the ministry’s premises. The first batch of 16 units had earlier been delivered on August 15.
AbdulGaniy said the initiative reflects the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration’s commitment to citizens’ welfare, stressing that reliable electricity is critical to improving security, supporting small businesses, and providing essential social amenities.
“The government is committed to ensuring that more communities have access to stable power because electricity is the bedrock of development and a key driver of economic opportunities,” he noted.
A statement by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Rukayat Abdulhameed, confirmed that the transformers will be distributed to communities that had earlier requested them, helping to ease electricity challenges and promote inclusive growth across urban and rural areas.
The procurement, according to the ministry, is part of ongoing efforts to bridge infrastructure gaps in the energy sector and ensure residents benefit from improved service delivery.
