In a bold move to revolutionize agriculture and combat poverty, the Green Revolution Farmers Feed the Nation Foundation (GRFFNF) has unveiled plans to engage one million women and youth in its groundbreaking Green Go Smart Farm Settlement Initiative.
Speaking on the initiative, Amb. Jonathan Okwudiri, Director General of GRFFNF, emphasized that the project aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to eradicate poverty and hunger across Nigeria.
The initiative will span all six geopolitical zones, with GRFFNF securing 150,000 hectares of land in each region to facilitate large-scale agricultural activities. These smart farm settlements will serve as training and empowerment hubs, equipping participants with modern farming techniques, financial support, and direct market access.
“We are going into agriculture fully, considering the current food security challenges in Nigeria. Through this initiative, we will empower one million women and youth, creating sustainable jobs and boosting economic growth,” Okwudiri stated.

The Green Go Smart Farm Settlement Initiative is designed to address key agricultural challenges such as access to land, funding, and markets. Participants will receive mentorship, farming inputs, and technical support to enhance productivity and sustainability.
“With agriculture holding immense potential to drive economic growth and reduce poverty, this initiative will ensure that more Nigerians, especially women and youth, can tap into this sector,” Okwudiri added.
To ensure the project’s success, Okwudiri urged government agencies at all levels to collaborate with GRFFNF by providing essential resources such as seedlings, fertilizers, and infrastructure support.
“The government’s backing will be crucial in reducing unemployment and achieving food security in Nigeria,” he concluded.
The Green Go Smart Farm Settlement Initiative stands as a transformative effort to redefine Nigeria’s agricultural landscape, empowering communities while fostering sustainable development.
