Junior Chamber Champions SDG 3 with Free Medical Outreach for Traders
In a powerful demonstration of its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Junior Chamber International (JCI) Oluyole, in collaboration with CMD Academy and Mokola Hilltop Hospitals, led by Dr. Olasunkanmi Adesina, organized a free medical outreach for traders at Olorunda Anajere Market, Iwo-Road, Ibadan.
The initiative drew an impressive turnout, with 121 market men and women receiving free medical consultations, blood pressure screenings, malaria tests and treatments, and essential medications. In a notable effort to improve vision health, 50 participants underwent free eye examinations and received corrective eyeglasses.
Representing the traders, Mr. Salami Asimiyu, the Baba Loja of Olorunda Anajere Market, expressed heartfelt gratitude. “Health is indeed wealth. Many of us work tirelessly without time for checkups. This outreach came at the right time, and we are sincerely grateful to JCI Oluyole, Dr. Adesina, and the supporting hospitals for their generosity,” he remarked.
JCIN Ambassador Busola Joseph, the 2025 President of JCI Oluyole, reiterated the organization’s unwavering commitment to community health. “Only a healthy person can be productive. This outreach is not just an event but a call to action. We urge everyone to prioritize regular health checkups and remain proactive about their well-being,” she said.
Advocating for healthier lifestyles, Mrs. Rebecca Dairo, Matron of Academy Hospital, encouraged traders to adopt preventive health practices. “Hydrate well, eat more fruits and vegetables, reduce sugar intake, and get enough rest. Choose wellness before sickness chooses you,” she advised.
The outreach witnessed strong participation from JCI Oluyole’s leadership, including past presidents, JCI senators, board members, and volunteers—all united in delivering quality healthcare to an underserved community.
Through this initiative, JCI Oluyole reaffirmed its dedication to sustainable impact via strategic partnerships, grassroots engagement, and advocacy for inclusive health services. The success of this outreach reflects the organization’s enduring motto: “Service to humanity is the best work of life.”
