In its efforts to alleviate the burden of the families of deceased and injured police officers in the line of duty, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, on Tuesday evening presented cheques totalling N83,102,207.38 to 45 beneficiaries.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s spokesman SP Abdullahi Haruna.
Haruna said, “The presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries is a transparent demonstration of the Inspector-General of Police’s commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their families.”
“This gesture is the reinforcement of the Police Force ’s commitment and dedication to supporting its officers and their immediate family members.”
The beneficiaries are deceased police officers’ next of kin and police victims of accidents.
While jubilating and expressing their appreciation, the beneficiaries specifically thanked the IGP and promised to make good use of the money, saying it came at the time it was most needed.
“The IGP’s welfare scheme is a testament to the police force’s commitment to its personnel and their families. This initiative has benefited numerous families across the country, demonstrating the force’s resolve to care for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice”.
“The presentation ceremony serves as a reminder of the police force’s dedication to its personnel and their families. It underscores the importance of recognising the sacrifices made by officers in the line of duty and providing support during times of need.”
