A Katsina-based philanthropist and businessman, Malam Abdul Aziz Maitura, has commenced his annual Ramadan food distribution program, benefiting 1,000 underprivileged individuals across the state.
The initiative, which began on March 3 2025, aims to provide relief to struggling families during the holy month of Ramadan. Maitura emphasized that in the face of economic challenges in Nigeria and beyond, wealthy individuals should express gratitude to Almighty Allah by extending a helping hand to those in need.
To ease the burden of fasting, the initiative ensures that 500 beneficiaries receive free Iftar (breaking of fast) meals daily, while another 500 people receive Sahur (pre-dawn meal) support throughout the 30-day period.
Maitura, who is also a politician, highlighted that such charitable acts not only alleviate hunger but also foster communal harmony and security. He noted that after breaking their fast, beneficiaries regularly offer prayers for peace in Katsina State and Nigeria, expressing their devotion and faith in divine intervention.
Calling on government officials and fellow politicians, Maitura urged them to seize the Ramadan season as an opportunity to support vulnerable citizens and sponsor prayers for lasting peace and stability in the state. He reiterated that even small acts of kindness are rewarded by Almighty Allah, encouraging others to contribute to societal well-being.
This philanthropic gesture reinforces the essence of Ramadan—compassion, generosity, and communal support—offering hope and sustenance to those in need.
