Lafarge Africa Plc has commissioned its new Freedom Plant, a modern ReadyMix facility in Lekki, Lagos, marking a strategic step in boosting Nigeria’s construction industry, job creation, and sustainable economic growth.
Speaking at the launch, Group Managing Director/CEO, Lolu Alade Akinyemi, said the plant reflects Lafarge Africa’s purpose of “Building Progress for People and the Planet.” He explained that beyond increasing production capacity, the facility will create employment, transfer technical skills, and strengthen Nigeria’s infrastructure development.
“This plant is not just about concrete it’s about enabling progress, supporting communities, and driving sustainable solutions that meet the growing demands of our economy,” Alade Akinyemi stated.
Also highlighting its impact, Derek Williamson, Head of Aggregates and ReadyMix, noted that the plant’s advanced capacity will improve service delivery, expand product availability, and support eco-friendly innovations such as Lafarge’s EcoCrete, ensuring that customers and communities benefit from efficient, sustainable building solutions.
With this launch, Lafarge Africa strengthens its footprint in Lagos while reinforcing its role as a key driver of innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth in Nigeria’s economy.
