Next weekend, Lagos will host an event that could change the way professionals think about networking. On Saturday, September 13, 2025, at The Wheatbaker Hotel, author and strategist Toyin Asada will unveil a new framework designed to help Nigerians move beyond quick introductions and build connections that drive long term business and career growth.
The event, themed “Networking in Action,” is more than just another professional gathering. It promises a full day of structured learning, intentional conversations, speed networking, reflective exercises, and even a three course buffet all tailored to help participants transform casual encounters into meaningful, growth-driven relationships.
For Asada, the idea is simple yet powerful: networking should not be about collecting contacts but about cultivating authentic bonds that unlock opportunities.
“Networking in Action is more than an event; it’s an experience,” she said. “Our goal is to help people understand that networking is not just about exchanging business cards, but about cultivating authentic relationships that open doors, create opportunities, and sustain growth in business and life.”
One of the highlights of the day will be the launch of Asada’s Beyond Handshakes Networking Workbook, a practical guide packed with strategies for building deeper professional ties. Sessions will include The Foundation of Networking and The Follow-Up Code, aimed at equipping entrepreneurs, executives, and young professionals with tools to foster trust and continuity in their connections.
Inemesit Hanson, the programme’s public relations manager and founder of Your Writing Camp, underscored the economic importance of the initiative.
“Networking remains one of the most underestimated skills. Too often, people view it as a one-off encounter rather than an ongoing investment,” she noted. “What Toyin is offering is not just another event but a framework that can help individuals maximise the power of connection in ways that transform careers, businesses, and even industries.”
As Nigeria’s economy continues to rely on collaboration, partnerships, and entrepreneurial resilience, Networking in Action is poised to equip professionals with the mindset and tools needed to thrive in an increasingly connected world.
