LAPO Microfinance Bank, known for its commitment to empowering individuals and uplifting communities, is supporting Nigerian gospel artist Somtochukwu Nsofor, professionally known as Essemm, in his remarkable mission to break the Guinness World Record for the longest hours of continuous singing. With a goal of singing for an extraordinary 128 hours, Essemm aims to surpass the current record of 105 hours held by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare, while using his gift to inspire hope and faith.
Essemm, a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and music producer, has been a beacon of inspiration in the Nigerian gospel music scene. His journey, rooted in Lagos, began at a young age, where he discovered his musical talent and passion for gospel music. Over the years, Essemm has dedicated his career to spreading messages of hope, love, and salvation through his powerful voice and dynamic performances. His vision of using music to transform lives aligns perfectly with LAPO’s mission of supporting dreams and creating opportunities for growth.
In a statement, Oluremi Akande, Director Marketing and Corporate Communications noted that the record-breaking attempt is more than just a musical feat – it is a powerful message of hope, resilience and the ability to transcend limits.
Akande noted, “At LAPO Microfinance Bank, our core mission has always been to empower individuals and communities to achieve their dreams. Today, we are honored to support Somtochukwu Nsofor, popularly known as Essemm, on his extraordinary journey to break the Guinness World Record for the longest hours of continuous singing. Essemm’s passion, dedication, and unwavering faith mirror the values we hold dear at LAPO as he prepares to sing for 128 hours”
He emphasized, “As an organisation, we believe in the power of music to connect and uplift, and through our partnership with Essemm, we are proud to play a part in supporting a dream that will inspire so many. As Essemm sets out on this monumental challenge, we encourage everyone to join us in cheering him on. Together, we are not just breaking records—we are breaking barriers to success and empowerment.”
“Essemm’s remarkable story is a true testament to what can be achieved when talent, determination, and faith converge. His vision of inspiring millions through his music aligns seamlessly with LAPO’s goal of enabling individuals to realize their full potential”, Akande stated.
In 2014, Essemm established TWF Concept, a media and management platform that has played a pivotal role in developing the talents of local artists. His Chronicles Music Concert, an annual gospel event, has grown into a platform that empowers other gospel musicians to share their music and touch lives.
Essemm’s world record attempt is not only a testament to his incredible endurance but also his unwavering faith. “Breaking this record is more than just a personal milestone,” says Essemm. “It’s about every second being used to uplift, inspire, and share the love of Christ with the world.”
The event will take place in Lagos and will be open to the public, with live-streaming options available for fans around the world. Through this collaboration, LAPO reaffirms its commitment to empowering individuals to achieve their dreams, while Essemm’s journey highlights the profound impact of faith-driven artistry.
