LAPO Microfinance Bank Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Angela Eneze Omeiza as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective 17th July, 2024. Ms. Omeiza brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Board, further strengthening the bank’s commitment to excellence in Governance and Social Responsibility.
Ms. Angela Omeiza holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Westminster, UK (2007), and a Master’s Degree in Commercial & Corporate Law from Queen Mary, University of London, UK (2008). She is a Barrister-at-Law, having obtained her qualification from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, in 2010, and is a proud member of the Nigerian Bar Association. In 2019, she was recognized as a Mandela Washington Fellow by the U.S. Department of State, receiving a certificate in Leadership in Civic Engagement from Indiana University, USA.
With over ten years of experience in Corporate and Commercial legal practice, Ms. Omeiza is a distinguished International Development Expert and a dynamic leader in transformative initiatives in Nigeria. As the CEO and Founder of Jela’s Development Initiatives, she has spearheaded significant projects focused on sustainable water access, blood donation, youth empowerment, and mental health. Her innovative approach has directly impacted over 50,000 lives, including the development of “J Blood Match,” an app that uses Google’s API to connect blood donors with recipients nationwide based on blood type and location.
Ms. Omeiza is also a seasoned media consultant with extensive experience in radio broadcasting, where she has successfully advocated for social impact and equity. Her media strategies, including crisis communications, reputation management, media training, and content creation, have reached over 1 million people and driven high-impact campaigns across sectors such as aviation, healthcare, education, and non-profits.
Her contributions have earned her numerous awards and recognitions, including being listed by the Guardian Newspaper as one of the 100 Most Inspiring Women in Nigeria (2018), Amazon of the Year Woman on Fire (2018), Donors for Africa Top 100 Women in Development (2020), The Bridge Church Excellence Award (2021), and an Honorary Membership from the Abuja Municipal Rotary Club (2021).
In her new role at LAPO Microfinance Bank Limited, Ms. Omeiza will serve as the Chairperson of the Board’s Environmental, Social, and Governance Committee and the Board Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
