Mixta Real Estate popularly known as Mixta Africa has empowered upto 40 micro businesses in Lakowe community, Lagos, to support local enterprises and strenghthen community resilience.
the firm in partnership with Kokun Foundation also distributed 100 food box to indigent residents in the community.
Chief Commercial Officer, Mixta, Tola Akinsulire, said the event is part of the company’s CSR initiative on innovation, sustainability and empowerment, which underscores their dedication to uplifting communities.
Akinsulire, who stated that the initiative is mainly in three areas namely, health, education and business empowerment, said in the past three to five years, Mixta has focused on health and education and has now decided to pay more attention to business empowerment.
Speaking on the criteria for selection of beneficiaries, the Chief Commercial Officer said: “One of the things about Mixta is that we believe if we are in a community, we should be part of that community, particularly in terms of engaging with the people. What we did was to go round the community to pick micro businesses that are in need of additional help to push their business to the next level. So, what we are doing is just providing support for them to conduct their business that are in need of additional help to push their business to the next level. Akinsulire said there would be more opportunities for people living in these communities, promising that Mixta is going to create more values for residents.
Noting that the current economic climate in the country is worrisome, he said it is important for Nigerians to support and help others around them.
On his part, the Founder, Kokun Foundation, Olukokun Adepeju, expressed happiness over teh firm’s support for micro businesses and promoting sustainability. He said Nigerians must do more, calling on other companies to emulate Mixta to assist people, noting that many are hungry and in need of assistance.
One of the beneficiaries, Rachel Akanni said: “I feel so great. When they came this morning. I didn’t believe I was going to get this umbrella. I am very grateful because it is going to help me protect my drinks outside the shop from the sun.”
She commended the firm for the effort and prayed for Mixta Africa to go from strength to strength.
