In a bid to foster youth empowerment and economic development in the Niger Delta region, D’Consiglories Nigeria Limited has announced plans to engage young people in skill acquisition and employment opportunities through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)’s Project-Hope initiative.
The company’s Managing Director, Mr. Blessing Fubara, emphasized that as a key resource consultant to the NDDC on Project-Hope, the initiative aligns with their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy to drive innovation and development in the region.
Fubara stated that the employment portal for youths enrolled in the program will soon reopen, allowing participants to resubmit their details for opportunities in the arts and music sector. He reassured stakeholders that despite setbacks, the NDDC’s leadership, under Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, remains committed to ensuring that Project-Hope delivers on its promise of economic empowerment.
To bridge implementation gaps and fast-track progress, D’Consiglories Nigeria Limited has taken the initiative to fund aspects of the project as a CSR intervention. This move aims to support youth development while awaiting the full-scale rollout of Project-Hope by the NDDC.
“As part of our corporate social responsibility, we are committed to ensuring that some components of Project-Hope are implemented within our capacity. Our goal is to provide meaningful employment and skills training while awaiting a comprehensive rollout from our principal partners at the NDDC,” Fubara explained.
The empowerment program is set to commence on February 18, 2025, with the platform reopening for art and music project submissions. Auditions for the Niger Delta Music and Arts Project will follow, beginning on February 28, 2025, in Bayelsa, Delta, and Ondo States, before expanding across all nine states of the region.
In addition to creative sector opportunities, Fubara disclosed that the company has established a database-driven employment system that will facilitate 18 job placements per month across the Niger Delta states.
“This database is designed as a needs assessment tool, ensuring fair selection and placement in professional, skilled, technical, and labor-intensive roles. Our goal is to create two job opportunities per state each month, enhancing employment prospects for young people in the region,” he added.
As publicity for Project-Hope ramps up, the initiative is expected to equip youths with sustainable skills, create job opportunities, and contribute to the economic revitalization of the Niger Delta.
