The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has strongly denied allegations circulating in a viral video that its fuel does not last, calling the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement, NNPC Ltd described the assertions as baseless and entirely unfounded, emphasizing that they originate from unverified and amateur research lacking scientific accuracy and professional oversight.
NNPC Ltd assured consumers that its fuel is carefully formulated with top-quality composition to ensure optimal efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability. The company also highlighted its commitment to maintaining industry-best practices in fuel production and distribution.
Addressing concerns about the origin of its fuel, NNPC Ltd revealed that a significant portion of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at NNPC retail stations in Lagos where the controversial video was reportedly made is sourced from the Dangote Refinery, a key partner in promoting local production and energy security. The Dangote Refinery, the statement noted, adheres to strict industry standards, ensuring the high quality of petroleum products available to consumers.
NNPC Ltd condemned the video as part of a deliberate misinformation campaign aimed at damaging its reputation. The company warned that it will take legal action against individuals or groups spreading falsehoods about its operations.
“We will not tolerate deliberate misinformation designed to undermine our operations and mislead Nigerians,” the statement read.
NNPC Ltd urged the public to disregard the viral video and instead rely on verified sources for accurate information. The company reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring fuel availability, affordability, and quality for Nigerians while maintaining global industry standards.
