For many Nigerians battling debilitating health conditions, access to quality medical care remains a distant dream. Hope has arrived for thousands of underserved individuals across the South-West, North-Central, and South-South regions . Thanks to a transformative healthcare initiative by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo).
Through a heartfelt act of philanthropy, NNPC and SNEPCo have donated life-saving medical equipment to the Benjamin Olowojebutu Foundation (BOF), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free surgical and medical interventions to vulnerable communities. This donation will enable BOF to conduct nearly 5,000 fibroid and hernia surgeries. It will also provide essential dental care for another 5,000 individuals—restoring health, dignity, and hope to thousands of families.
SNEPCo’s Managing Director, Roland Adams, represented by Health Manager and Transformation lead, Dr. Ajike Oladoyin, reaffirmed the company’s unwavering commitment to social impact and community development. “At SNEPCo, we believe that good health is a fundamental human right. This partnership with NNPC and BOF is part of our larger mission to bridge healthcare gaps and uplift lives across Nigeria,” he stated.
Echoing this sentiment, the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), Oluwaseyi Omotowa, represented by Deputy External Relations Manager, Edith Lawson, emphasized that the donation reflects NNPC Ltd’s deep-rooted dedication to corporate social responsibility.

“We recognize the immense challenges faced by healthcare providers in reaching underserved communities. This donation is not just about equipment. It is about giving people a second chance at life, restoring their ability to work, care for their families, and dream again,” Lawson said.
For Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu, founder of BOF, the impact of this donation cannot be overstated. “Behind every surgery we perform is a mother who can now care for her children, a young girl who no longer has to suffer in silence, a father who can return to providing for his family. This is more than medical aid—it is the gift of life,” he said with gratitude.
The medical outreach, set to take place in Kwara (North-Central), Ekiti (South-West), as well as Ebonyi and Bayelsa (South-East and South-South), will bring critical healthcare services to some of the country’s most neglected communities, ensuring that no one is left behind.
This initiative is just one of many life-changing interventions spearheaded by NNPC-SNEPCo. This includes it’s co-venture partners — TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil, and Nigeria Agip Exploration. Their humanitarian footprint extends across Nigeria, from rebuilding hospitals and schools to providing scholarships for underprivileged students.
Last year, more than 6,000 individuals received free eye care through the NNPC-SNEPCo Vision First initiative. This also saw the donation of medical equipment to hospitals and charity homes in Lagos and Bayelsa States. Their unwavering dedication to cancer treatment, disaster relief, and education continues to uplift lives across the nation.
NNPC and SNEPCo’s commitment to healthcare goes beyond corporate responsibility—it is a call to humanity. Their partnership with BOF serves as a powerful reminder that philanthropy is not about charity, but about justice. It ensures that every Nigerian, regardless of their background, has access to the medical care they deserve.
As they extend this lifeline to thousands, the question remains: Who will take up the mantle next? The private sector, government agencies, and individuals all have a role to play in creating a future where quality healthcare is not a privilege, but a right for all.
This isn’t just a donation—it’s a movement of hope, healing, and humanity.
