Oyo partners German firm partner to boost education

To achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals for education, the Oyo State Government has partnered a German firm called, EIDU.

The state Universal Basic Education Board Chairman, Nureni Adeniran, stated this during a sensitisation training for staff members by a Germany-based education firm, EIDU, held at the board’s conference room in Ibadan, the state capital.

He said the programme would contribute to the state government’s efforts to build a strong foundation for learners.

Adeniran revealed that the state government, through the board, has put plans in place to improve the expected standard for reading, writing, and maths in basic schools.

“By 2030, the state will be well positioned to develop strong digital learning, which will have a transformational impact on the state and the entire nation at large.

“This programme which kick-started on September 5, 2024, is structured to build e-learning and digital capacity in the state basic education sub-sector. This intervention program will ensure we improve how we teach our pupils,” Adeniran said.

The Team lead, Operations, EIDU, Silas Armandos, said the programme would give learners and teachers access to curriculum-aligned content, adding that each learner will receive immediate learning feedback.

Armandos said, “Over 300,000 learners have been registered on the EIDU device. Global learning crisis needs to be solved, through a platform like EIDU, where contents will be in line with the curriculum of each country.”

Also speaking, the Team lead, Government Relations, EIDU, Ignatius Attah, said the literacy program would transform the course of education in the state, adding that it will build a strong foundation through the provision of increased learning outcomes in schools.

EIDU, a German word, that means “Individual Education” is introducing a digital literacy program to Nigeria, using Oyo and Katsina, respectively, as its pilot states.
