As 2025 begins, the Resource Conservation Development Initiative (RCDI) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and community transformation with an ambitious agenda to improve water, sanitation, and environmental practices across Nigeria.
In a press statement signed by its founder, Minite Okoroh-Oviaesu, RCDI called on stakeholders to unite in making 2025 a landmark year for progress and environmental stewardship. The organization outlined key programs designed to create lasting impact:
1. Blue Horizons Initiative
RCDI aims to provide clean and affordable drinking water to an additional 250,000 people in 2025. “Through innovative solutions and community engagement, we are expanding access to safe water, ensuring health and prosperity for all,” the statement emphasized.
2. PureFlow Sanitation Excellence Project
This initiative focuses on improving sanitation for 75,000 individuals by building modern facilities and promoting hygiene education. “We are dedicated to eliminating open defecation and fostering healthier communities,” RCDI noted.
3. Empowering Local Action
The organization is supporting 60 communities to lead their own sanitation and hygiene projects through its Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) model. “Empowering local leadership ensures sustainable change and self-reliance,” RCDI said.
4. Policy Advocacy and Awareness
RCDI is driving policy changes and raising awareness on sustainable water and sanitation practices at the national level. “Through strategic partnerships and outreach, we aim to create a movement for lasting impact,” the statement read.
RCDI concluded by inviting individuals and organizations to collaborate in building a brighter, healthier, and more sustainable future. “Together, we can create transformative change. Partner with us to support these initiatives and make a difference,” the organization urged.
This bold plan underscores RCDI’s dedication to addressing critical environmental and public health challenges while empowering communities to lead the way toward sustainability.
