SKOT Communications has launched the SKOT Impact Academy, a tuition-free training platform designed to strengthen Nigeria’s communications industry by empowering early-career professionals with critical skills for employability and growth. The six-week programme targets young professionals with one to two years of experience, equipping them with practical training in storytelling, brand communications, and strategic thinking skills essential for global competitiveness in today’s knowledge economy.
According to SKOT Communications, over 400 applications were received for the maiden cohort, underscoring the rising demand for opportunities that bridge the gap between academic learning and workplace readiness.
Founder of SKOT Impact Academy and CEO of SKOT Communications, Tokunboh George Taylor, described the initiative as a pipeline for sustainable industry growth: “SKOT Impact Academy is more than a training programme. It is where young professionals are given the tools to thrive, lead with purpose, and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s communications economy.”
She added that the academy aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on Quality Education and Decent Work for Youth, with the vision to nurture a new generation of global storytellers who will shape industries and redefine Africa’s narrative in global markets.
Commenting on the launch, Nkechi Balogun, chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (Lagos State Chapter), said: “This initiative is building a pipeline of world-class talent, ensuring our communications industry is positioned for global relevance while boosting economic and professional opportunities for young Nigerians.”
The SKOT Impact Academy, one of three programmes under SKOT Academy, will run three times a year in hybrid and virtual formats to enhance accessibility. Other offerings include SKOT Masterclasses, designed for mid-career professionals seeking to sharpen their strategic communication skills.
By building talent capacity, fostering global competitiveness, and enhancing employability, the SKOT Impact Academy is expected to contribute to Nigeria’s broader economic growth and reposition the country as a communications hub for Africa.
