In a bold and purpose-driven response to African youth unemployment crisis, SLAP Africa (Shoot Like A Pro Africa), a non-profit social enterprise under Easter Dove Resources, has launched an ambitious plan to empower 50,000 African youths with professional training in cinematography and photography by 2030.
The program, which has already trained over 230 young creatives since its inception in 2018, is designed to give unemployed and underprivileged youths access to high-demand skills that can open doors to financial independence and global opportunities.
Speaking in Port Harcourt ahead of the upcoming training, Mr. Jude Anyanwu, CEO of Easter Dove Resources and Project Lead of SLAP Africa, announced that registration has commenced for the next cohort of the training program scheduled to kick off on July 11, 2025. The six-week boot camp will be held both physically in Port Harcourt and online, ensuring wider reach across Africa.

“We are not just offering training; we are building an army of young Africans who will tell our stories, create jobs, and shape the future of Africa’s film and creative industries,” Anyanwu said.
SLAP Africa’s comprehensive curriculum covers camera operations, lighting, storytelling, editing, and production—preparing participants for real-world industry demands.
“Cinematography is one of the most lucrative creative industries today. Professionals can earn up to ₦2 million per project. Yet, many talented youths are stuck in poverty due to a lack of access to structured training. SLAP Africa was created to change that,” he added.
SLAP Africa Calls for Sponsors to Join the Creative Revolution
The program is 100% free, but to expand its reach and sustain its impact, SLAP Africa is actively calling on corporate sponsors, NGOs, philanthropists, and public-spirited individuals to support the initiative through funding, mentorship, or equipment donations.
Organizations and individuals interested in partnering with SLAP Africa to make lasting change in the lives of young Africans are encouraged to reach out to them.
