As Nigerians struggle for food and other essentials, Smallgiant, an international advertising company, has provided substantial support to Little Saints Orphanage, Abule-Egba, Lagos, and hundreds of residents in the surrounding community to alleviate hunger.
The company as part of its commitment to community development and corporate social responsibility (CSR), donated food items and essential goods worth over N400,000 to help alleviate hunger and support vulnerable groups.
The donation drive, held last Sunday, brought much-needed relief to the densely populated area, where many residents face increasing economic hardship. A wide range of items, including bags of rice, packs of noodles, macaroni, spaghetti, garri, seasonings, toothpaste, toothbrushes, detergents, and bar soaps, were distributed to ensure the basic needs of the community were met.
In a special gesture, Smallgiant extended its support to Little Saints Orphanage, donating a significant supply of foodstuffs and other necessities for the children under its care. The orphanage, which has provided shelter and education to orphans and abandoned children for over two decades, expressed deep appreciation for the timely donation.
Speaking at the event, Mrs OlawumiShodiya, Smallgiant’s Team Lead, emphasized the company’s commitment to uplifting local communities and addressing the rising problem of food insecurity in Nigeria.
“We recognise the importance of giving back, especially to the most vulnerable members of our society. Our donation to Little Saints Orphanage is a reflection of our desire to help these children secure a brighter future. We encourage other organisations to step up and make a difference, as every contribution counts,” she said.
“Hunger is a major issue across the country right now, and we are committed to playing our part in alleviating it. Today’s donation is aimed at supporting those most affected, particularly vulnerable children in orphanages like Little Saints,” Shodiya added.
Speaking in the same vein, Smallgiant’s Hiring Manager, Mrs. Kemi Bola Oyediran, echoed these sentiments, recognising the crucial role that orphanages play in society. She reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting these institutions in their efforts to care for vulnerable children.
She also highlighted that Smallgiant, an international advertising company that has recently entered the African market, is seeking eligible Nigerians for employment, aiming to provide opportunities for those willing to work online despite the current economic challenges.
One of the beneficiaries of the community distribution, Mrs. Bolanle Yusuf, a local trader at Ekoro Junction, expressed her gratitude.
“Things have been tough, and the food pack I received means a lot to my family. We are thankful that this is coming at the right time.”
In her remarks, Mrs. Juliet Abiodun, Assistant Administrator of Little Saints Orphanage, expressed profound gratitude for Smallgiant’s generosity, noting that the donation aligns with the biblical mandate to care for the poor and needy.
She said, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” She commended Smallgiant for exemplifying this scripture through their actions.
Abiodun also called on other corporate organisations and individuals to follow Smallgiant’s example, stressing the importance of consistent contributions to ensure the well-being and prospects of the children.
