The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) is intensifying efforts to boost job creation and sustainability within Nigeria’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. Through its newly launched GROW Nigerian strategy, the agency aims to empower entrepreneurs, drive productivity, and promote long-term economic growth.
Empowering Entrepreneurs with GROW Nigerian
During a press briefing with the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria in Abuja, SMEDAN’s Director-General, Charles Odii, unveiled the details of the GROW Nigerian strategy.
GROW, an acronym for Guidance, Resources, Opportunities, and Workforce Support, is SMEDAN’s blueprint for strengthening MSMEs across critical sectors of the economy.
“By providing the right support mix—knowledge, funding, infrastructure, and market access—we can build sustainable businesses and create jobs,” Odii stated.

Impact So Far: Jobs and Support for Entrepreneurs
According to SMEDAN’s Q1 2025 report:
- 90,160 jobs were created for Nigerian youths.
- Over 116,000 entrepreneurs received support, including:
- Business training
- Access to finance
- Market linkages
- Distribution of essential work tools
This impact reflects the agency’s dedication to entrepreneurship-driven economic development.
Strategic Focus on Sustainability and Philanthropy
SMEDAN’s GROW strategy aims to:
- Offer expert mentorship and strategic guidance
- Provide access to sustainable tools, technologies, and funding
- Create platforms for product exposure and market expansion
- Promote innovation through skill-building and workforce development
