In recognition of the strategic role the Nigerian Police Force plays in ensuring the safety of lives, properties and businesses, Strom Foundation, under its “We Build, They Protect” Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) Initiative – a campaign targeted at empowering the Armed Forces, the people and community, visited the Zone 7 Headquarters of the Nigerian Police Force, FCT – Abuja to show appreciation and support for the immense contribution by the men and women of the Nigerian Police Force towards a safer Nigeria.
The visit which culminated in a full event of reciprocal appreciation was graced by the Inspector General of Police (“IGP”) ably represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7, Joshua Oyedeji Ogundele (the “AIG”), men and women of the Police Command including the families of demised Police Officers.
Notable items were distributed to the gallant officers and their dependents including but not limited to food items, cash and gifts, articles, souvenirs, functional items, living materials to mention but a few.
Speaking at the event, Kolapo Joseph, a member of the Board of Trustees of Strom Foundation iterated on the importance of recognizing the efforts of the Nigerian Police Force and other military and paramilitary outfits in nation-building, emphasizing that they do not get their deserved recognition. Hence, and in a similar way, Strom Foundation had earlier in 2023 visited the Armed Forces where it extended gratitude and gift items to the military men and their families. In his words, “We don’t recognize the hard work the Police and Military Officers infuse to protect the Country. We have investments in several parts of the Country and they are all protected by the Armed Forces, hence we have called this campaign “We Build, They Protect” and are here to show the deserved support and appreciation.
In a show of appreciation to Strom Foundation, the AIG, on behalf of the IGP and the other men and women of the Police Command commended Strom Foundation for its intentional and passionate work towards recognising, supporting and appreciating the efforts of the Nigerian Police Force in nation building. He emphasized the appreciation of the Police Force particularly as Strom Foundation’s gesture did not just consider serving officers but also recognised the families of the fallen heroes. In his words, “for the Company to think about the widows and widowers in the Nigerian Police Force, is a great thing. If we have all other organizations doing this, then we know our efforts are being noticed.”
Indeed, the efforts of the Nigerian Police Force and other military outfit will not go unnoticed. With Strom Foundation propagating this initiative, it is sure to command traction across stakeholders and re-emphasise the need to recognise and appreciate the work of our heroes on the field.
Beyond Strom Foundation’s focus on the Military and the Nigerian Police Force, it’s CSR initiative also extend to education given its recently launched Strom Scholars Awards where
