The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has urged stronger collaboration with the Lagos State Government to safeguard critical power infrastructure, citing increasing urban development and pressure on transmission corridors across the state.
The appeal was made by Mojeed Akintola, General Manager (Transmission) of TCN Lagos Region, during a courtesy visit by the company’s management team to the Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority (LASPEMA) on Tuesday.
Akintola emphasized that closer inter-agency cooperation is crucial to preventing encroachment on transmission rights-of-way, which pose serious risks to both power supply reliability and public safety.
According to Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, the visit aimed to strengthen institutional ties between TCN and LASPEMA while promoting orderly urban development in Lagos.
He warned that encroachment on transmission corridors can lead to equipment damage, safety hazards, and frequent grid disturbances, negatively impacting electricity supply to homes, businesses, and industries.
The visit reflects TCN’s commitment to collaborative solutions for sustainable urban planning and uninterrupted power delivery across Lagos State.
