UBA Foundation, the dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility arm of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, marked the 2023 festive season by hosting its highly anticipated annual Food Bank initiative on Thursday, December 21. This annual event stands as a hallmark of the foundation’s commitment to philanthropy and community support.
The UBA Foundation Food Bank initiative, an embodiment of compassion and generosity, aims to provide critical support to the less privileged and individuals in need within UBA’s operational communities. This year, the foundation extended its benevolence to thousands of individuals, reinforcing its unwavering commitment to community service.
In Nigeria, the event unfolded at the UBA Foundation Garden and Roundabout situated in Marina, Lagos. Simultaneously, similar initiatives were undertaken across all countries where UBA operates, showcasing the foundation’s widespread impact.
The event witnessed robust participation from numerous UBA staff who volunteered their time and resources. Their contributions, including food items and essential supplies, amplified the foundation’s mission to bring joy and make a positive impact during this festive period.
Oliver Alawuba, UBA’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, personally engaged with the community, emphasizing the bank’s steadfast dedication to its communities through such impactful initiatives. He remarked, “At UBA, our commitment to giving back is ingrained in our values. Over the years, we’ve consistently demonstrated our gratitude to the communities across Africa and in our operational countries. Bola Atta, the Managing Director of UBA Foundation, highlighted the foundation’s core focus areas encompassing empowerment, education, environmental sustainability, and special projects. She stated, “For five years now, UBA Foundation has remained resolute in promoting sustainable development within our host communities. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, we’re poised to provide sustenance to tens of thousands across Africa this festive season. Through our Food Bank initiative, we distribute vital items, including food and hygiene products, to those in dire need.”
