UBA Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of United Bank for Africa Plc, has reinforced its commitment to social impact with a large-scale humanitarian intervention that delivered essential supplies and financial support worth millions of naira and dollars across Nigeria and 19 other African countries.
The intervention, executed under the Foundation’s Food Bank and Giving Back initiative, ran between November 2025 and January 2026 and directly supported more than 100,000 beneficiaries. Strategically timed to coincide with the financial strain often experienced during the year end period and the start of a new year, the programme was designed to address immediate needs while strengthening community resilience.
In Nigeria, the outreach covered all geopolitical regions, with targeted support provided to orphanages, internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, and other vulnerable groups. Beneficiary institutions included the Daughter of Mercy Mother of Mary Orphanage Home in Abia, Trinitarian Foundation for Orphans and the Helpless in Ebonyi, The Destitute Home in Lagos, Oyiza Orphanage and Foster Foundation in Oyo, Itsoghena Orphanage Home in Edo, Enoima Children’s Home in Akwa Ibom, Yekope Orphanage in Kogi, IDP camps in Niger and Borno States, UMCN Orphanage Home in Taraba, Kebbi Children’s Home, and the Orphanage Home in Dutse, Jigawa State.
Beyond Nigeria, the Foundation extended similar humanitarian and nutritional assistance to communities in Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Collectively, these interventions benefited hundreds of thousands of people across the continent, underscoring UBA Foundation’s pan-African CSR footprint.
Speaking during visits to selected beneficiary institutions, including The Destitute Home in Lagos, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Foundation, Bola Atta, emphasized that the initiative reflects the Foundation’s long-term approach to social impact. She noted that beyond one-off interventions, UBA Foundation remains focused on delivering sustainable support that improves lives irrespective of geography or economic circumstances.
The latest outreach highlights UBA Foundation’s evolving CSR strategy, which prioritises inclusive growth, social protection, and human development. By combining financial assistance with food supplies and educational materials, the Foundation continues to play a critical role in supporting vulnerable populations and strengthening social safety nets across Africa.
