As part of events marking the 2023 World Peace Day, the United Nations Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre, UN-PEPOLAC has appointed Chief Abuchi C. Attah, CEO and Founder of ABU Mmaduaburochukwu Foundation, as the World Ambassador for Goodwill, WAG-UN.
The event which took place at the auditorium of the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, witnessed the gathering of peace advocates and ambassadors in Nigeria, and men and women of goodwill from across the world.
Presenting the award to the young Philanthropist, Chief Attah, the International Coordinator of UN-PEPOLAC Nigeria, Bishop Dr Ozioma Ozoemena said: “Chief Abuchi Attah through your Foundation, God has used you to champion peaceful coexistence amongst community, stop youth restiveness and improve the lives of many through your goodwill. We have followed your Foundation activities over the years, your consistency in helping people and strong advocacy for peace are qualities we can’t help but appreciate. You are a good man and today we are appointing you as World Ambassador for Goodwill, the highest rank in our organisation.”
Acknowledging the recognition and receiving the appointment plague, Chief Attah expressed gratitude to the organisation for finding him worthy of such an exalted award and appointment.
“I am delighted to have been appointed World Ambassador for Goodwill Ambassador for the international organisation. This recognition will definitely spur me to do more in enhancing the quality of life and in pursuit of more happiness for the common man”, he assured.
The International Coordinator of UN-PEPOLAC Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Ozioma Ozoemena, in his keynote speech, described this year’s event with the theme, ‘Actions for Peace: Our ambition for the global goals’, as a unique one and stressed that it continues to serve the purpose of orientation for peace advocates, opportunity to interact and interface, and build lasting relationship.
A good number of eminent Nigerians, whom the UN-PEPOLAC believed have consciously made significant contributions in the promotion of peace in the society, also received special recognition.
Notable among them include; Prof. Josephat Ogbuagu; Chief Chinedu R. Emezu; Hon. Justice Veronica Ngozi Umeh; Chief Jude Akpua, PhD; Hon. Clement Aguiyi; amongst others
The International Day of Peace marked every 21st of September, was declared in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly.
