“We as humans have the ability to tackle almost any problems we encounter, and that is the message we need to spread. There is so much amazing stuff happening. We can do it, and we will do it”, said Nigel Topping, UN High-Level Climate Champion during the launch, which was broadcast live from the Nature Positive Pavilion at the UN Climate Conference COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
#WeCanDoIt is an international call to action to channel the spirit of inspiration, determination, and optimism of the now famous Second World War campaign.
#WeCanDoIt is backed by company leaders, scientists, investors and influencers committed to accelerating the green transition and use their influential to push for rapidly phasing out the global fossil-fuel subsidies. Even before the launch, more than 600 leaders, together representing $124 billion in turnover, had signed the call to action. And the numbers keep growing by the hour.
“We know we can do it. It is a simple as that. No technological barriers remain. But we also need to believe it can be done. We Can Do It sends a much needed positive message”, said Andreas Follér, Head of Sustainability at Scania, during the launch event.
