Parallex Bank has partnered with the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) to empower women and youths through an initiative designed to create jobs and strengthen financial literacy, as part of COWLSO’s silver jubilee celebration.
At an event hosted at the office of the First Lady of Lagos State, the partnership saw the donation of 100 Point of Sale (POS) machines, provision of seed funding for beneficiaries, and a financial literacy workshop. The initiative is aimed at equipping participants with both tools and knowledge to run sustainable businesses.
Chief Digital Officer of Parallex Bank, Mr. Frank Alarapon, noted that the programme reflects the bank’s corporate social responsibility drive, which focuses on bridging the financial inclusion gap and empowering young Nigerians. He said, “Parallex Bank is deeply committed to advancing financial inclusion. Beyond providing POS machines, our priority is to equip beneficiaries with financial knowledge that fosters growth, independence, and long-term business sustainability.”
The Chairman of COWLSO and Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, commended Parallex Bank’s support, describing the initiative as a significant investment in human capacity. She emphasized that the project would give young people sustainable means of livelihood, enhance financial literacy, and strengthen community resilience.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, highlighting how the programme addresses unemployment and poverty by offering practical tools for economic empowerment. Many also described it as a model for impactful public-private collaboration in tackling socio-economic challenges across Lagos State
