The Jericho Businessmen Club (JBC) in Ibadan, Oyo State, has launched the Future-Ready Youth Digital Bootcamp, an intensive programme designed to equip young people with digital skills and prepare them for careers in the technology-driven global economy.
The initiative, which kicked off on Wednesday, November 12, at the Ibadan Business Hub, marks the first phase of JBC’s two-stage digital empowerment programme. The three-day introductory workshop focuses on Digital Skills and Career Pathways in Technology, while the second phase will offer a 10-week certified training in Data Analytics and Cybersecurity for the top 15 performers selected from the initial 52 trainees. The extended training is supported by GOMYCODE, a leading technology education company.
At the opening ceremony, JBC President Adegboyega Adegoke highlighted the importance of preparing youths for the digital economy.
“The world is moving into an era dominated by Artificial Intelligence and data. Even in Nigerian universities, the tech revolution is real. To remain relevant, you must be ready. This is the age of disruptive technology, which, while challenging, offers immense opportunities. Take advantage of this initiative your career is in your hands,” he said.
Adegoke emphasised that the programme is part of JBC’s commitment to fostering economic self-sufficiency among youths and contributing to the development of Ibadan and Oyo State.
Kunle Opawale, Chairman of the Innovation Sub-Committee of the JBC 2025 Socio-Economic Summit, explained that the boot camp aligns with the summit theme, “Future-Ready Oyo State: Tech Talent and Transformation.”
“From 165 applicants, 52 were selected after a rigorous screening, all scoring above 65%. The top 15 will advance to the 10-week intensive bootcamp with certifications in Data Analytics and Cybersecurity, preparing them to compete globally,” he said.
Programme Manager Emmanuel Adesanya noted that the training introduces participants to digital literacy, cyber skills, and data analytics, with the advanced phase offering hands on experience certified by industry leaders, including Microsoft.
The JBC, a leading socio-economic body of professionals and entrepreneurs, has consistently driven developmental projects in Oyo State, and this initiative reinforces its commitment to nurturing tech-ready youths and building a future ready workforce.
“Our goal is not just training but job placement and mentorship. Success will be seeing participants thrive in tech careers and return to guide the next generation,” Opawale added.
