
The Agege Local Government, in its bid to promote economic empowerment and inclusivity, has launched a ₦100m grant scheme to support by youth and women-owned micro businesses in the area. The initiative aims to provide financial assistance to entrepreneurs, stimulate economic growth, and create jobs.
The grant scheme, titled “Agege Empowerment Initiative”, is open to youths (aged 18-35) and women in Agege who own micro businesses, with the goal of enhancing their business operations, increasing income, and contributing to the local economy. Eligible applicants will receive funding to boost their businesses, with a focus on sectors such as:
- Agriculture and agro-processing
- Retail and wholesale trade
- Services (e.g., beauty, fashion, IT)
- Small-scale manufacturing
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be a resident of Agege
- Be a Nigerian citizen
- Own a micro business with a valid business registration
- Have a clear business plan and proposal
Selected beneficiaries will receive:
- Grants ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦500,000
- Business training and mentorship
- Access to business development resources and networks
“We are committed to empowering our youth and women, and this grant is a significant step towards achieving that goal,” said the Chairman of Agege Local Government. “By supporting micro businesses, we are creating opportunities for economic growth, job creation, and community development.”
The grant scheme is part of Agege LG’s broader efforts to promote economic empowerment and improve the well-being of its citizens. The initiative is expected to benefit hundreds of youth and women-owned businesses in the area.
