In a significant act of humanitarian support, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has donated 25,000 bags of 10kg rice to the Bauchi State Government to aid vulnerable communities during the holy month of Ramadan. The food relief initiative aims to support residents facing economic hardships, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to poverty alleviation and social welfare.
The official distribution, which took place on March 18, 2025, was supervised by Hajara Yakubu Wanka, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, ensuring equitable allocation across the state.
Equitable Distribution Across Local Government Areas
The rice distribution was strategically allocated as follows:
- 500 bags per Local Government Area (LGA) across the 20 LGAs (10,000 bags total)
- 10,000 bags designated for organizations and social groups
- 5,000 bags distributed to religious bodies, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Islamic organizations.
Dangote Foundation’s Continued Commitment to Social Impact
During the handover ceremony, Ahmed Hashim, Group General Manager of Dangote Industries Limited, reaffirmed the Foundation’s dedication to providing essential relief to Nigerians, especially during Ramadan.
He highlighted that this is the second consecutive year of the initiative, following last year’s distribution of one million bags of rice nationwide. Hashim also emphasized ADF’s broader interventions, including:
- Food relief and poverty reduction efforts.
- Healthcare initiatives across Nigeria.
- Educational development, including construction of university hostels and faculty buildings

Government’s Role in Enhancing Humanitarian Support
Speaking on behalf of Bauchi’s 20 local government councils, Hon. Mahmood Baba Ma’aji, Chairperson of ALGON Bauchi State, expressed appreciation to Governor Sen. Bala Mohammed for ensuring effective distribution of relief items. He noted that this effort aligns with a previous palliative program initiated by the state government to provide social welfare support to low-income residents.
Ma’aji also praised the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for its active role in addressing community needs and coordinating partnerships with private sector donors like Dangote Foundation.
Strengthening Private-Public Partnerships for Social Welfare
The Aliko Dangote Foundation continues to set a benchmark for corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Nigeria. This latest intervention underscores the importance of collaboration between private businesses, government agencies, and humanitarian organizations in addressing food insecurity, poverty reduction, and social support initiatives, particularly during Ramadan.
