
In celebration of Global Recycling Day 2025, Ecocykle, a leading environmental sustainability NGO, took its recycling awareness campaign to Nasarawa State Polytechnic. The initiative engaged students and faculty in critical discussions on waste management, emphasizing the role of youth in sustainable environmental practices.
Speaking at the event, Lauritta Boniface, Executive Director of Ecocykle, underscored the need for heightened recycling awareness among students, highlighting that tertiary institutions serve as vital hubs for fostering eco-conscious behaviors.
“Recycling is a key solution to the growing challenge of plastic waste. Young people must take responsibility and lead sustainable practices,” Boniface stated. She emphasized that consistent awareness campaigns are essential in driving long-term behavioral change in waste management.

- Movie screenings showcasing the effects of plastic pollution and improper waste disposal.

- Testimonials from students, Victoria Udeh and Mohammed Dauda, who pledged to spread the recycling message in their communities.
Collaboration for Environmental Impact
Ecocykle partnered with EcoStewards, Kwaji Environmental Education Foundation, and the Women’s Environmental Program (WEP) to ensure the success of the event. Nasarawa Polytechnic’s lecturers and students actively participated, showing strong commitment to the recycling movement.
