Oyo State is set to hit a new milestone in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), targeting over N100 billion monthly, thanks to the economic reforms under Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
Prince Dotun Oyelade, the State Commissioner for Information, highlighted that the state’s IGR has surged significantly in recent years. “While previous administrations struggled to reach N15 billion annually, Governor Makinde’s policies have raised IGR to N65 billion in 2024. As of July this year, collections stand at N58 billion, just N7 billion short of last year’s total,” he said.
Oyelade noted that the seamless revenue collection has strengthened Oyo State’s position as a leading financial hub, without increasing the burden on investors. The commissioner expressed confidence that with current trends, the state will surpass its own record by year end, reflecting the productive use of revenue to boost economic growth, infrastructure, and service delivery.
