Polaris Bank, in partnership with the Nigeria Conservation Foundation (NCF), has expanded its tree-planting campaign to Lagos, Ogun, and Kaduna, reinforcing efforts to combat climate change and promote environmental sustainability.
The initiative, launched in 2024 as part of the bank’s World Environment Day activities, has now reached the Lekki Conservation Centre (Lagos), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (Ogun), and Sardauna Memorial College (Kaduna).
Polaris Bank executives Chris Ofikulu and Sharafadeen Muhammad, who attended the Lagos edition, said the campaign aligns with the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration and reflects the bank’s long-term commitment to sustainability.
Okeleye Yetunde, Divisional Head for Ogun/Oyo, and Kabir Lawal, Acting Group Head for the North West, also stressed the role of environmental stewardship in mitigating climate risks across the states.
Commending the initiative, the NCF noted that the selected trees ranging from fruit-bearing to shade-providing species will contribute to erosion control, windbreaking, shade provision, and food security.
Polaris Bank reaffirmed its pledge to plant 10,000 trees nationwide, describing the project as an integral part of its climate action and growth strategy.
