The CEO of Spazio Ideale, Tomi Olatunbode, has called for a deliberate push toward gender diversity and innovation in Nigeria’s design sector, highlighting the critical role women play in shaping the industry.
Olatunbode made the remarks during Ecobank’s Design and Build Expo 2025, where she was a panelist at the session “Women in Design and Architecture.” Now in its second year, the Expo themed “How We Build, How We Live, serves as a platform to showcase creative solutions and modern design trends.
At the event, Spazio Ideale’s booth featured a modern minimalist living space that embodied the Expo’s theme, demonstrating how thoughtful, efficient design can transform everyday living.
Speaking on the panel, Olatunbode stressed the need to break down barriers and ensure that female talent drives innovation in architecture and design. “Spazio Ideale is committed to being an advocate for this change, ensuring our industry’s innovation is powered by truly diverse leadership,” she said.
The panel also featured Nwamaka Okoye of Housessories and Sandra Edoho of Vivabella Designs, who discussed the importance of increasing female representation at the executive level and the unique perspectives women bring to design.
Olatunbode further highlighted Spazio Ideale’s work transforming spaces for brands both in Nigeria and abroad, showcasing the firm’s commitment to combining aesthetic excellence with functional innovation.
