APM Terminals Apapa, Nigeria’s largest container terminal, has awarded scholarships to 45 undergraduate students from its host community as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at fostering education and youth development.
Company Plans to Grow Scholarship Program to 250 Beneficiaries in the Next Five Years
At a ceremony held in Lagos, the company also extended scholarships to the children of five frontline employees, reinforcing its dedication to creating lasting educational opportunities.
Speaking at the event, Terminal Manager Steen Knudsen emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to empowering future leaders through education.
“Today, we are supporting 45 students, but our vision is to increase this number to over 250 within the next four to five years,” Knudsen announced.
“Education is the foundation of the future, and we are proud to contribute to shaping the next generation of leaders.”

APM Terminals Apapa has a strong track record of supporting education within its host community. The company previously renovated and upgraded Randle Secondary School, Apapa, equipping it with modern learning facilities to enhance the academic experience.
Additionally, the company is set to launch a technical training program for female mechanics in partnership with the Lady Mechanic Initiative, a non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering women with automotive skills.
Addressing the scholarship recipients, Uzoma Ben-Ude, Head of People Function at APM Terminals Nigeria, urged them to embrace hard work and boldness in their academic pursuits.
Similarly, Omolara Olatunbosun, Senior People Business Partner and Scholarship Program Lead, described the selection process as rigorous, highlighting the recipients’ resilience and dedication.
“Out of over 150 applicants, these students stood out for their perseverance and commitment to excellence,” Olatunbosun stated.
The Chairman of Apapa Local Government, Hon. Idowu Senbanjo, commended APM Terminals Apapa for its significant contributions toApapa, Port Legal Adviser Maxwell Maduakolam education and urged other corporate entities to follow suit.
Representing the Port Manager of Lagos Port Complex praised the company’s commitment to education and encouraged the beneficiaries to remain diligent in their studies.

Ige Akindenuola, a Lagos State University student, highlighted how the initiative would positively impact the beneficiaries and their communities.
Nansoh Melody from the National Open University of Nigeria expressed gratitude for the financial relief it provides, allowing her to focus on her studies.
