In a remarkable humanitarian effort, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has commenced the distribution of 35,000 bags of 10kg rice to vulnerable individuals across the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Adamawa State.
The official flag-off ceremony took place on March 29, 2025, in Yola, with Governor Ahmadu Fintiri expressing profound gratitude to ADF for its generosity. Represented by the State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Ibrahim Mijinyawa, Governor Fintiri emphasized the timeliness of the initiative.
“Adamawa State has received 35,000 bags of 10kg rice, which will be distributed across all 21 LGAs as a humanitarian gesture from the Aliko Dangote Foundation. This support will significantly aid beneficiaries, especially during these challenging times,” Mijinyawa stated.

The governor assured both ADF and the residents that the distribution would be handled transparently to ensure it reaches the intended beneficiaries. “As you can see, the council chairmen are present. To ensure fair distribution, we have also involved religious leaders to oversee the process,” he added.
Alhaji Bello Danmusa, Group General Manager of Operations at Dangote Sugar Refinery, Numan, speaking on behalf of ADF, highlighted that the donation aims to alleviate the economic hardship faced by many citizens.
“We are here as part of the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s humanitarian initiative to present 35,000 bags of rice to the Adamawa State government. This is to help mitigate the impact of economic challenges, particularly for the most vulnerable residents,” Danmusa remarked.
Alhaji Gambo Jika, Chairman of the Adamawa Muslim Council, also expressed appreciation to ADF, noting the significance of the donation during the last 10 days of Ramadan. “We sincerely appreciate this gesture, which comes at a crucial time. May God continue to bless the Aliko Dangote Foundation for its kindness,” Jika stated.
Jika further urged local government distribution committees to emulate the state committee’s transparent and efficient approach to ensure a smooth and fair distribution process.
