INGRYD Academy Launches 5-Year Scholarship to Train 40,000 Youths in Global Tech Skills

In a major step toward solving Nigeria’s digital skills gap and youth unemployment, INGRYD Academy has launched a five-year scholarship program that aims to train and certify 40,000 Nigerian youths in top tech skills.

The announcement was made in Lagos by Khadijat Abdulkadir, INGRYD’s Founder and CEO, who emphasized that this is more than charity—it’s a strategic move to build a globally competitive digital workforce.

Global Certification, Local Access

In partnership with ISACA, a world-renowned IT governance and certification body, Nigerian trainees will now be able to earn certifications recognized in over 190 countries.

“The issue isn’t that Nigerian youths aren’t skilled—it’s that they lack globally recognized certification,” Abdulkadir said. “Without it, international employers don’t take them seriously.”

To solve this, INGRYD is subsidizing ISACA certifications, cutting costs from as high as $2,000 to just $250. Each student will also get a free one-year ISACA membership, connecting them to a global network of over 85,000 IT professionals.

Hands-On Training with Real Impact

The program will be instructor-led and interactive, with daily hands-on sessions over 3 to 6 months, focusing on high-demand fields such as:

• Data Science (Python & R)

• Cybersecurity
• DevOps & DevSecOps
• Cloud Computing & IoT
• Blockchain Technology
• Product Management
• IT Sales
• Data Analytics

Tuition ranges from ₦150,000 to ₦500,000, with flexible payment plans to ensure more people can participate.

Currently, only 37% of INGRYD graduates secure jobs after training. With this new initiative, the academy is targeting at least 70% job placement through added support in job matching and visa assistance.

Breaking Barriers to Global Jobs

Abdulkadir noted that many global and even Nigerian companies still hire foreign tech workers due to a lack of certified local talent. She cited companies like Dangote Refinery and large banks as examples, saying:

“It’s unfortunate that these roles are going to Indians and others when Nigerians could do the job—if they had the right qualifications. That’s exactly what INGRYD is fixing.”
